Little Things Making Me Happy

...making my ponytail swish as I walk. ...watching my hair grow out. ...thinking about weekend plans. ...making plans. ...making continuous plans. ...keeping said plans. ...abundance of pancakes and other fatty foods that I love to eat. ...getting a cd in the mail from a friend living in Canada. ...consciously doing something other than eating that one gallon tub of ice cream. ...re-starting my two hundred crunches at night routine. ...yes I purposely wrote TWO HUNDRED. ...considering what to pack and what to throw away. ...a give-a-thon might be starting soon.

Happy Pancake Day! Fat Tuesday! and Mardi Gras! Today I am celebrating by listening to the new cd that Krystle made for me. I'm not sure that we will be doing anything tonight. No doubt there will be a mass celebration on Dickson St. tonight, especially since it is so loverly out. I'm chomping down on girl scout cookies, wearing purple, and wishing I were outside. Happy Guilt Free Get Fat and Eat Day!!! May your relationships blossom!

The One Where She Opens Her Trap

Image hosting by Photobucket
From Daily Om:

As your birthday is fast approaching, today may be the day you begin to ponder how you want to shape your future. You may feel excited about your plans and dreams or excited about the chance to start anew. You can make the most of your attitude by visualizing what you want out of life. Consider where you are now versus where you’d like to be, and ask yourself how you can make that happen. Imagining the vivid details of your dream life can make you feel optimistic and happy. As you think about the future, let your musings solidify into the beginning of a plan. The fantasies you have today could contribute in a very real way to the success you achieve in the coming year.

Because all success begins in the mind, visualization can be a potent way to call your dreams into being. When you look ahead with an optimistic eye, you create a mind-set that your goals are attainable. Because you are undaunted by fears of failure, you are more likely to put yourself into situations where opportunities will come your way. You also emanate a magnetism that draws blessings into your life. You can create what you want by picturing both the grand and minor details involved in the creation of your dream life. Your brain will accept your mental musings as truth. Visualize the life of your dreams in detail today, and prepare yourself for a wonderful year.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and one of the questions that keeps coming up is: "But will it make me a happier person? Will it be just a temporary happiness?" I've been trying to have a positive attitude about trying new things, and it has helped me relax most of the time. I've also had more enthusiasm about getting littleerrandss done; now I need to do the same for the bigerrandss. I've been waiting to turn this age all of my life and it's a little intimidating because this is the year that I wanted to see a lot of my goals come together. Oddly enough, I think most of them are. The last seven years alone have been truly amazing. Becoming an adult, learning to liveindependentlyy, getting married, succeeding in life, but still finding that something is missing. Most people feel this way, and I think some of them get along just by doing what they need to. But I don't want to live in a routine. I want to learn and explore more. I'm an ace when it comes to holding myself back and drowning myself with fear. It's time for a change and not a temporary one. One that will take work. One that will be hard and will take lots of discipline, but a change that I will look forward to everyday. I've heard people say that they don't want to live the same day twice. Why would anyone? When I'm sitting in my wheelchair at a mediocre retirement home, I want to be able to have some glint at a past that would be fun to retell my nurse or passing strangers. Of course, by that time I might be in such a state that I remember my life as a trapieze artist better than my current one. But I digress. Every day should be a memorable one, not just okay.

Feel Bad!!!

This weekend was a lovely carnival of erands and doodads. Like what? Like, me going to wal-mart on Saturday night! Oh the debauchery! I did see some peopel there wearing mardi gras beads though. I did get some new pictures developed, and as I consider how much film I so easily go through...I'm thinking a good digital camera and photo paper migh be the way to go. My regular film camera will be used for things like portraits and black and white film. That stuff is addictive like cadberry bunny eggs. Yesterday was fun, and I mean that in the fly-to-South-Am-and-trek-through-the-jungle-for-two-days-to-find-farmers-and-one-ex-vet-with-cyber-legs-and-a-katana-and-flub-on-throwing-your-gredade-after-him-after-you-hit-your-leader-in-the-head-with-your-katana-after-making-an-unbelievable-roll-thus-proving-that-you-are-one-in-a-thousand kind of way. Now, I shall leave you with a picture that I took while in the troll garden. And it is nothing like the movie Troll that scared the crap out of me when I was little. So there.

"Never be afraid to laugh at yourself, after all, you could be missing out on the joke of the century." - Dame Edna Everage
This little gem was waiting for me on my Google front page. Miss Dame Edna. The epitome of everything prim and proper, and all that comes in between. ;) She has a flare for life rarely seen. I hope that translated well possums. Dame Edna has been a long-time role model of mine. It might have started when she locked Mel Gibson up in her sauna or got Charlton Heston (or Chuck as she calls him) to be her little kitchen boy. The next bit is taken directly from her remarkable web site.
Possibly Jewish, Dame Edna is a widow, with three grown children. She spends her time visiting world leaders and jet-setting between her homes in Los Angeles, London, Sydney, Switzerland and Martha’s Vineyard. She is the Founder and Governor of Friends of the Prostate and the creator of The World Prostate Olympics.

Denial

I don't understand the recent move to deny that the Holocaust happened. It's not like people denying the moon landing. Can anyone explain to me that rationale? Below is an article about a man recently put in jail for his book denying the Holocaust.
Holocaust denier: prosecutors Last Updated Tue, 21 Feb 2006 11:54:03 EST CBC NewsAustrian prosecutors want British historian David Irving to spend more time in prison, saying his three-year sentence for denying the Holocaust is too lenient. Irving could have been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty on Monday to charges of denying the Holocaust. Under Austrian law, it is a crime to publicly diminish, deny or justify the Holocaust. Convicted holocaust denier David Irving carries his book Hitler's War arrives at court in Vienna on Monday. (AP Photo/Hans Punz) "The public prosecutor believes the ruling was too lenient in light of a possible sentence of up to 10 years and Irving's special importance to right-wing radicals," said Walter Geyer, spokesman for the public prosecutor's office in Vienna. Irving, 68, told the court on Monday he was wrong in contending there were no Nazi gas chambers during the Second World War. Irving, who has written close to 30 books, was arrested in November 1989 after he denied in speeches in Austria that the Nazis killed six million Jews. He had contended most of the Jews who died during the war succumbed to diseases such as typhus. Austria's Justice Ministry says there were 158 convictions between 1999 and 2004. GRAVETTE — Excited screams of "Oh, look. There he is!" echoed on Main Street in Gravette on Wednesday night at a watch party for "American Idol" hopeful Patrick Hall. The 27-year-old singer has made the Top 24 on his way to becoming the next Idol. Party organizers Rodger Terrell, director of Gravette city services, and Chris Brandon, a longtime friend and business associate of Hall’s, hosted the party at the Gravette Towne Centre at 109 Main Street. Ironically, the building is owned by Hall. Three separate TVs were surrounded by the enthusiastic watchers. A sign near the popcorn machine declared, "Go Patrick." Soft drinks and snacks were available, and the hometown folks were clearly confident that Hall would move to the next level of competition. First to arrive at the watch party were Vicky Johnston and her 19-year-old daughter Tabitha Johnston. "We’re here to support one of our own," Vicky Johnston said. "Things like this watch party keep our hometown alive. I wanted to be here. Patrick is doing a lot by redoing a lot of the buildings in downtown Gravette. I appreciate that and I’m a big fan of his. That’s why I came to this party tonight." Brandon said he believes Hall will go a long way and could easily become the new American Idol. "He’s so gifted," Brandon explained. "Besides singing, Patrick is a wonderful pianist and songwriter. He’s just really good." Hall’s wife, Laura, agreed. "We were married last July 4 th," she said. "I have signed an agreement with the show that I won’t discuss anything about his appearances, but I can tell you that I’m very, very proud of him. This is great to have so many people cheering for him." Hall’s sister Caroline Martinez said she, of course, was proud, too. "He’s been singing since he could talk," Martinez said, smiling. "He’s a good singer, songwriter and an accomplished pianist. I’m so glad America will get to see the talent we’ve seen Patrick’s whole life." Hall’s dad, Billy Hall, M. D., shook hands with just about everyone at the watch party and accepted all the good wishes on behalf of his son. Janell Hendren Edwards is another of Hall’s friends. Also a singer, she and Hall have often entertained audiences together. "We’ve been friends since childhood," Edwards said. "I’m a little older and Patrick was always like a little brother to me. We really began performing together at local venues in 2002. We recorded a demo in Nashville and sang together over a year and a half. I’m so proud of him and happy for him. I’ll be watching the show because I feel sure he’ll really shine." Mitchell Wilber, Hall’s junior high school principal, was in the crowd. "Oh, Patrick was just a wonderful student," Wilber said. "He received the highest honors in school and is just a good, good citizen." Carrying a gorgeous, homemade cake in front of her, Deeree Mitchell said she made it in honor of Hall. "He and my husband, Gib, have been friends forever," Mitchell said. "We called Patrick (Wednesday) morning, and told him we would be at his watch party.... I let him know I was baking him a cake." Another watch party is scheduled for Feb. 23. Twelve men and 12 women have made it to the next level of competition. Hall will compete with the remaining men during a two-hour episode Wednesday. The show begins at 7 p.m. on FOX, and the public will begin voting for their favorite performer. During the watch party Thursday, four contestants — two men and two women — will be eliminated. Only 20 will continue, vying for the title. The first live "American Idol" results will be revealed during the show at the watch party. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. at the Gravette Towne Centre, 109 Main St. S. E. in downtown Gravette.

More Squid

The Corpse Bride. I expected this movie to be more goth. Set in the Victorian era...heheh...and Victor and Victoria...I wish they sang. There was some music, but not much. And, like with The Nightmare Before Christmas, the movie would have been better if the neon was just left out. Why? Why?! The neon nonsense should just be left out. Really. Also, less maggot. Yet, Tim Burton makes these wonderful little villages that make you want to pick up your controller and navigate the movie your way. Maybe he can start making Choose Your Own Tim Burton Adventure or something.... Was there anything else to the Corpse Bride Emily? She seemed like such a shell, such a...er...corpse. Obsessed with marriage, oh and she could play the piano. As is typical with a lot of kid's movies you have the nice, simple plot. But it might have been too simple for this. There didn't seem to be any room to really explore the characters. If you feel angsty enough, go here and right a poem about it. It really needed a bit more squid.

Call Me Patsy

I'm tempted to do something crazy. Like, get a part-time job crazy so that I can make money to do even crazier things. My birthday is coming up too. So far, a secret trip is planned. There are also other things being pondered in the blender that is my mind: getting extra piercings on my ears...painting pottery...to eat at a little Italian place...to drive in my car for a couple of hours just to listen to my new cd play...possibly a celebration with friends...and the corpse bride (although that might be more of a St. Valentine's Day thing). Image hosting by Photobucket See, it's been long overdue since I went on a relaxing vacation. A vacation where I didn't have to worry. A vacation where I didn't have to tell anyone where I am. A vacation where I don't have to answer the phone. A vacation where I can indulge in the food without worrying what it costs. A vacation without housework. I hope a hot tub will be involved.

Back to Google...

I think I might start using my Google account exclusively.... Yahoo and AOL will be charging for 'better' service:
The service will effectively mean that emailers that pay the fee will have their messages tagged as if they were "special delivery" emails. And those who pay will be more likely to see their messages get through to the intended recipient than those who choose the fee free option. The Yahoo and AOL fees, which would cost up to one US cent per email, are the latest attempts to weed out unsolicited ads, commonly called spam, and identity theft scams. The senders must promise to contact only people who have agreed to receive their messages, or risk being blocked entirely.

What I actually did this weekend

Glenn has been sick all week. Turns out that he had a virus, and I stayed home Friday to take care of him. At 5am he had a temperature of 101.5 and it got up to 102 by the time he saw the doctor that morning. I dumped him on the couch then tore off to fill his presciption and pick up more water. He drank about 24 bottles of water by himself this week and still couldn't stay hydrated. By that afternoon his fever broke, but he's still hasn't gotten back to normal. We were supposed to go to Kansas this weekend for a Dragon Crest event, but when I came home Thursday to find him sprawled out on the couch with used tissues all around, it was kind of obvious that we would be staying home. I did find some time between playing nurse and maid (four loads of laundry, mopping, vaccuuming, dishes, wal-marting, fan cleaning, etc.) to go out and get two wonderful cd's. Pearl Jam's TEN and Elton John's BEST OF. Couldn't beat getting the EJ 2-for-1 cd either. Lately I've been looking up cd's on amazon and if I can find them locally for the same price (including shipping) then I just get them here. I also found time to update a whole bunch of pictures onto photobucket. (Of course I'm not giving you a link! Do you think I want everyone to see a picture of me taking a bath in a sink?!) Image hosting by Photobucket Tried to make a Greek salad today. I ate it. I blame Glenn's sickness for the reason why he didn't like his. Although, the margaritas I made to go with tonight's fajitas were wonderful!!! It's also nice to see some fresh carnations in a vase too! And now, I study.

According to my Dove chocolate this morning:

Pleasant Surprises Yesterday Afternoon

...bought two cd's that I have been craving. Although I could have sworn that I did have one of them already. Maybe a gnome stole it. Michelle Branch's The Spirit Room and Avril Lavine's Let Go. ...went to two different pet stores just so I could look at the turtles. ...took someone out to lunch. ...had a bad copy of the Moulin Rouge soundtrack removed from my car. ...got a haircut. ...bought a pumpkin mocha and a muffin (just now eating the muffin). ...finding out the secret ingredient to the pumpkin mocha. ...told good things over the phone by someone I was worried about. ...finished off the ice cream.

Notice from the Universe

This could not have come at a better time.
Straight from the Akashic Records, Colleen (Shhhhhh....): Time and Space: Where you chase things you pretend you don't have - love, friends, and abundance - while worrying about things you pretend you do have - problems, challenges, and issues - until one day you happen to notice the prophetic powers of pretending. In case that helps any. Tallyho, The Universe
